Pink October is an annual campaign, started in the 1990s, to share information and alert society about the early diagnosis of breast cancer, which is essential for successful treatment, as the disease is asymptomatic in the early stages, when it it is more easily treated. 95% of the cases identified at an early stage have the possibility of cure. There are almost 500 thousand deaths per year in the world, with about 18 thousand deaths per year in Brazil.
The National Cancer Institute of Brazil joined the campaign in 2010, when it started promoting events and producing materials on the topic. Thus, women are encouraged to undergo examinations such as breast palpation and mammography. In line with our social views, and with the guidance of professionals, this is another cause that we support and promote among our team.
